  • Didn't see your reply Matt - do you think I should leave it uncovered then?

    Definitely a drumstick Primula image

I had 2 Clumps last year and this is the only pic I could find, They gave me so many plants after they finished flowering image

  • That's interesting - I have an idea I planted a lilac one last year but it had no bulb. Perhaps I bought it when it had already passed that stage...I can't find any others so I must have just got one rogue one!

Did the purple one come up while the white was still flowering? That must have looked amazing. I think you must have put pics on the garden gallery last year? I remember the pots and the shingle.

It is a Primula, its not a bulb it will sprout leaves out of the top, looks like a Denticulata, did I send you one last year? Bury it in a bit more Victoria.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Hi Lyn,image

I bought a collection of bog Primulas last spring - I just don't recall the 'bulby' stage. I'm going to keep a sharp eye on its development - learning something new all the timeimage

I have two similar in unlabelled pots which I had assumed were primula.  They're more green than brown and smaller but the structure is much the same
