  • HELP HELP.. I have been trying to grow gyp from seed for over a month now ie three attempts . Failed every time..Ok the seed germinated ok and at 1.5 - 2" tall I thought I would transplant to a pot .. seedlings were in a grow tray.. However after a few days all literally fell over ..I should have said that I have tried starting them off on a windowsill inside and covered in a poly tunnel.. What am I doing wrong -- please !

  • Hey.
These answers are quite complicated for a beginner like me. Would someone be able to answer in a straightforward way:

    - Is the Gypsophila root the end that looks like a short brown stick or the bit with the little white bits coming out?
Which bit goes in first basically?

    Many thanks.

Dear all, I just planted some Gypsophila bare root plants I bought at end-of-season sale. Was reading this old thread and suddenly panicked a bit: Did I plant them the right way please (root stick vertically with shoots upward)? Or are the root sticks supposed to be lying flat on the soil (saw it here: https://www.hartsnursery.co.uk/Gypsophila-White-Fairy-perfect.html)? And do I need to bury them a bit more? Thanks!

They are planted the right way up, but need to be a bit deeper. You could give them another couple cm of compost or a top dressing like bark or gravel.  The yellow bits will turn fgreen and the shoots will straighten up. Your ugly duckling will turn into a swan.
