oh lordy, incredible, titanic, unbelievable hail storm shredding garden. just watched the total destruction of the potted cannas in about 30 secs. 3 in of hail on the ground and here it comes again. story and pictures at 11.
Love Mrs Garden's pic with the clem, astilbe and lambs ear - what clever planting.
I also prefer the iPad photos Verdun - I can zoom into each plant and have a good nosy around so please persevere...is that your taxus standishii in the background or another one?
Thought my garden looked rather lush this morning now we're getting regular rain...
Hope everything's OK with David - it is horrible watching your hard work being destroyed. In the last 3 weeks we've had one day of gale force winds and 2 days when we had several hours of absolutely torrential / damaging rain. Foxgloves laid flat - roses, philadelphus & clematis bashed to bits & some of the stalwart clumps such as salvias & anthemis left sprawled all over the place despite the corseting underneath. Heart breaking - sometimes wonder why we put ourselves through the torment - won't stop us though will it?
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Sorry Verdun, in hindsight that might have seemed rather rude It's rare I get the chance to visit the garden of someone who actually likes plants so I like to open everyone's photos up and have a good look around, see what is there, what they are planted with etc...
Hi Susan, just have the one hen left now, Poppy. Ex enriched caged hen. I took the run fence down after the last hen died in the hope she wouldn't get too bored and lonely, so she wanders about in the garden all day now.
