hadn't done it for a few years so decided just to grow the volunteer tomatoes from last year. plants are flourishing- cloudburst last night that dropped 2 in. of rain in an hour.
dahlias from cuttings very compact and floriferous.
verdun-put in agastache pink pop last year. very pretty-although short-but at a distance looks like a more vivid stachys roseum, which isn't a bad thing.
Verdun, what can I say about the health of your plants and the planting combos?
I am sooooooo jealous
I also prefer your Australian camera as the quality of colours seems better but I'll take your garden anyway it comes, just keep sharing those inspired combos
Katherine, if you pm me, I will send hardwood cuttings later on in the year. I want to distribute it because the original is planted on someone elses land, with their permission. The only problem is that hes 96 and when he dies they'll stick 60 houses on it. So I need a back up for when I move. You can have it for free so long as I can have a cutting back if necessary.
Verdun - thanks for the plant names - will definitely put that euphorbia on the shopping list - will look lovely with rusty orange day lilies.
Wintersong - I always like looking at your garden pictures - another one with a designer's eye for planting combos / form and texture.
I really wish I could do it but somehow things never turn out as they looked in my head! My best planting combos are nearly always fortuitous - whether mistakes or accidents - but am trying to learn from garden visits and these lovely pictures.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Runny, exquisite!

Found this combo of pokers plus berberis plus potentilla and then some cool penstemons, hopefully next year I can merge the gaps

Un-named variety Verdun, brought as dry root from Woolworths many years ago and been divided too many times since
The leaves aren't razor though and it doesn't mind my light soil so probably something close to Knip Caulescens ?
Thanks Topbird
Just caught up looking back on all the lovely photos
My turn...
rescued philadelphus 2? years on (found hiding in leylandii hedge).
'feather bed' , thanks to verdun for persuading me to persevere with it!
a new little annual to me, ? Cephea ? 'tiny mice' , will have to chech the name but it's really sweet, and only £1.00
Lovely gardens Wintersong and Mrs. Garden.
