Diggingdoris, lovely photos. Above is photo of the bug box our daughter made for the garden. For some reason photo won't rotate. Having difficulty downloading any pictures to this site today!
Yes I call it a japonica quince, but proper name is chaenomeles speciosa. My 6 ft tall one was grown from a 3inch piece broken from a neighbours one 44 years ago! Stunning flowers before the leaves appear. I'm trying to grow a clematis up it so that there is some interest when the flowers have gone. Has huge apple-like fruit on it, but don't try making quince jelly from them like I did. They are not the right fruit for it, just share the same name.
Took some photos this evening just of garden in general, especially happy with borders under my pergola, exactly how I wanted (still bits of tidying to do at step and border edging) its really given this area a lovely atmosphere, I feel a set of garden furniture coming on...

Beautiful Wintersong, will look even better in the summer. Are you having a pergola 'opening'
Lovely Wintersong, worth all your work.
Thanks guys, it's very new planting and obviously you can't feel the atmosphere through a picture but I'm over the moon with how it's shaping up
Looks fabulous Wintersong .....you must be so pleased that all that planning paid off
Love your great bowl of tulips too - fantastic colour.
Lovely selection of plants witnessing. And no lawn to mow! Lucky you.
