I was ready for the last shedding and was gutted because the wind blew them in the opposite direction away from my house. I can't go sweeping them up outside someone else's houseimage

    Wearside, England.
  • Thanks

I'm a novice but learning hard

Hit 40 got married, has a baby and then started becoming a gardener. Mid life crisis maybe without the motorcycle

I have mini trees and seeds growing all over for future bonsai / japanese rockery ideas. And the ever watchful eye of anyone throwing out a chunky tree that I can cut down and style later

    Lovely Marc image

You've grafted very hard to achieve that result and you'll always have something to see - I think that's important in smaller gardens, and something I try to do here.

Love your 'bonsai bench' area  image

How much time do you spend tending them and keeping them trimmed ?

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Tomorrow early is drive down street to where I got married, country house covered in trees.

Ill go sweep off all the leaves off pavement for my leaf mould new area.

I used to walk this pavement and is awkward covered in wet leaves so surely sweeping up is good for the community

    May get some looks though

  • Not as much as you may think fairy girl. A bit here and there but let grow out some before styling again and trim back

I go to a couple of work shops a year to work on and buy more. Then maintenance through year and rewire sometimes

This was my present from wife a few weeks ago.. my new azalea.  needs some major growing out to create the canopy but should be good in a couple of years

Bonsai-marc, your Japanese inspired rockery garden is lovely, you did a great job. Your Bonsai area is great, you have some really lovely ones on your blog. I do love the look of Bonsai's but am no good at keeping them.

It's a fascinating skill Marc. I like the precision of it - the creation of something very intricate  image
