I'd agree on the japanese anemone. It's a nightmare if it likes the growing conditions. Still trying to get rid of mine but if I only leave a small piece of root it starts again. Haven't put any weedkiller on it yet.
Agreeing with the general consensus. Mine doesn't spread much, I sometimes wish it would as it's a lovely plant.
Try putting Glyphosate on it for 6 years and waiting to see if it re-grows in Spring. That's what I have been doing with one patch.
