Warmer day today and sun shining from the off.  I did get a basket of broad beans picked yesterday and taken to a neighbour but the budget and Wimbledon got in the way of a full day  although the geraniums did get the chop and I started on the contorted hazel which I hope to finish today. No rain forecast here till Monday so should catch up on the jobs.  I do need to keep watering my yooung trees and shrubs in my new Golden jubilee border which i planted last year as I would hate to lose any of them.

Worked till I nearly dropped in the garden then as a reward took some photos and now to watch some tennis.

Another brilliant day forecast so must get the watering done first before it gets too hot.  The thought of Wimbledon in the afternoon on the TV will be encouraging me to get on with the pruning.  My shallots are all yellowed now so need lifting and storing.

Cool in my woodland walk today and the ivy and white hebes are lovely.  My Xmas phalaenopsis is still wowing me in the kitchen.

Gardeners World has just finished; gentle rain has just started to water my work in the garden though I do  always water whatever I plant; the British interest has gone from Wimbledon except for Jamie Murray in the doubles so perhaps the hours will multiply in the garden from now on.  Just as long as it does not get too hot.

I have been out in the cool of the morning and nearly filled the green wheeliebin with prunings.  Best time to work for me to work really as pollution from traffic on the M5 is less.  The rain came to very little last night and a fine warm day forecast.  Like Monty I have potatoes needing harvested.  My mouth is watering at the very thought.

I did give in and watch the Ladies Singles final at Wimbledon after working hard in the garden.  I have started to tackle the bottom growth on the lime tree that encroaches from next door onto my front drive.  It is a horrible sticky, dirty job as the leaves are all covered in sticky aphids, but has to be done else they will all fall down onto the drive in the autumn and also sully any vehicle which comes up the drive.  There was a gentle breeze which helped to keep me cool physically but I cannot say the same of my mental state.  Horrid job.

What a lovely backdrop to your parents' garden, flumpy.  Too dark to make out your Mum though the washing stands out nicely!   Will finish the sticky job tomorrow.  we may have some rain tonight which would help.  my strawberries are nearly over - at least the main big ones.  "Buddy" is a smaller strawberry but keeps on producing till October.  Soon be picking Worcester Pearmain apples.  What a huge crop this year!
