 Hi Folks,

Just been taken on for a very large garden, would like someone to ID the above for me. I particularly like the tree, it's a stunning orange red colour. Thanks in anticipation.

The tree might be Acer griseum, though there are others that do that

    Hi Dave,

I would have a stab at wild ginger for the ground cover plant.

Manzanita has the same colour and peeling bark as your tree.

I could be miles off so will wait for the experts image

  • ...like birches (they shed their bark). the top picture looks like morning glory-best guess is bindweed. i could be wrong about the tree, but as he/she said, there are many trees that do that.

Notr bindweed for sure, this looks invasive but not by the same method. I don't know what wild ginger is Gemma.

One of the compheys is a possibility but doesn't seem quite right.

Some of the leaves look like phlomis, but others don't

Asarum europaeum, Wild Ginger nutcutlet, close but I'm not sure, could be a relative or cultivar or something completely different image

I've now seen the pic of phlomis russeliana spot on nutcutlet image

That's good Dave, one of the reasons I had doubts is because I would have expected to see dried flower stalks on that, but maybe they've been removed

Asartum europaeum has lovely shiny leaves. I didn't know it was called wild ginger, never noticed a gingery scent, should I poke it and see if it smells of gingerimage

If that's phlomis it needs digging up, the grotty bits removed and replanting Daveimage
