I'm angry about Black Friday. I bought a handbag on Monday from John Lewis, only to find that on Friday it was quite a lot cheaper!  Pretty bad idea if these big stores want to keep the average shopper happy. I'd support a shop more if it didn't have Black Friday. I'm not a huge fan of American-isms like this.

We were e-mailed on Friday to say anyone showing a works ID card at The Body Shop could get a 50% discount until 4th Dec. No points for guessing who went into The Body Shop this morning image

Some friends got behind the stage at a Soap Aid concert some years ago using their uni cardsimage

  • Stores are experts at making money. The iPads on sale are the original ones, now 2 years and 2 version ago. The stores create the false impression that you are getting a bargain and create competition. People love to compete, in fact the fighting on the news yesterday will have boosted sales rather than lower them.

My favourite nursery tends to have a sale in January, so I will save my pennies for some specimen plants.

I don't like crowds even peaceful ones.  Got caught up in one many years ago when the children were small.  We were, as it happened, going where the crowd was going but we wouldn't have had any choice if we hadn't been. As for joining the heaving mobs pictured..... not on your nelly!!!!!

..I work in retail and got wind of this some weeks ago, so decided to book Black Friday off.... a wise decision I should say...   of course if they were all fighting over a gorgeous Rhododendron then I would understand it perfectly...lol...

Tootles ....  get back to John Lewis and tell them you are not happy. I bought a piece of furniture from them in the summer .... 3 weeks later it was £200 cheaper!

I complained (nicely) and got the £200 refunded to my credit card.

    Worth trying.............

Tootles I know someone who did exactly the same, she took the bag back but before she went to customer services.    ( half hour earlier she bought exactly the same bag at half price.)

Told them the Bag not match her shoes

    Hi Mike

are you getting a little mixed up with Halloween , did you mean  the    " trick and treat" scenario?   Which I believe was an American thing image

I don't  recall   "trick and treat "     when I was a child ,  image      isn't something  we did or was I living a sheltered life image ??

Don't tell me I've missed out image!!!!!!!
