..oh sure....I don't like to see them tatty... my point is...I don't think they always need to be lifted...at least, not frequently...

here's another in my garden - I bought 2 the same time planted 5 years ago...this one escaped being cut down by weather, and has now lost a lot of its colour and youth..it's too big... I shall cut this down in Feb...but I'm not lifting it...

I expect your phormiums grow much quicker down there once they're divided Verd!  Wet, cold ground's the biggest issue here so I prefer them in pots mostly, although I have created good conditions for the Cream Delight in a raised bed.  I really just want an excuse for a trip to the nursery....is that bad? imageimage

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • On a whim last weekend I ripped out 3 buddlea buzz'z and a normal buddlea all the same lilac colour which I replaced with 2 yellowy leucanthemums and a space, perhaps for a banana cream leuc.image

Also on the bore list are 2 shrubby cinquefoil and lots of polyanthus that keep getting nibbled.

..lots of lovely things getting thrown out here..lol... I always thought Buddleia buzz was supposed to be the 'in' plant at the moment...? I wonder why you don't like them Victoria....I don't have any myself...

..Aster alpinus 'Goliath' is looking shaky in a frontal position....it's not supposed to be long lived in any case and think next Spring will be the last for me - ....it's said to seed around but haven't found any....not sure I'd know them if I saw them...

  • Hi Salinoimage

They were just completely outshone by some other buddleas, normal ones. It wasn't a good spot for them to be honest they never looked good.

  • I remember your buzz, Verdun, it looked lovely. Some of my buddleas were smothered in flowers, white profusion and a pink one I forget the name of. The buzzez just didnt make the grade and I've had them two summers...imageimage
