Our Hefty stopped coming to the terrace for food at the beginning of November. Think he's under the heap of runner bean haulms and hay that are stacked in a sheltered corner.

Hedgehogs don't always hibernate, only if it is cold enough.
Last winter mine were all out every night and spent the day sleeping in the hog house.
Keep food going all the time as some late juveniles need all the help they can get or they won't make it through the winter as natural food could be scarce.Fresh water as well.

Something has been in the house and the food was eaten!
Hopefully at least one happy hog
Can you leave a shallow bowl of fresh water out for them too - we find that although we have a pond in the garden, the hedgehogs always visit their water bowl after they've eaten

I had an improvised cat kennel outside my door a few years ago with a lityke food placed outside. I then had a littke cat who lived to sleep there if it rained. One morning however. The cat had slept indoors and a hedgehog popped out of the "kennel "to ear the cat food. This year I have made a hedgehog house from an old mower grass collector, cleaned and filled with grass hay them covered with strong bin bag
I was lucky enough to be given a trail camera for my birthday back in March.
It is put out every night so I can watch my hedgehogs on the patio.Without it I would not be able to see if hedgehogs were around as they mostly turn up around 3 am!
I know I have at least 5 different hedgehogs visiting.
The camera also picked up a mouse, cats, birds and last week a rat (which I now have to deal with!).

I've put a hedgehog house in my mothers large back garden, and despite rehoming one from a rescue shelter the only thing we had in the house this year was a bumblebee nest that then got raided by a wood mouse, which then set up home and raised a brood herself.
trail cameras are great, one of my aunties neighbours thought either yobs or a heron had been taking his prized (by him, not in actual price) koi carp, I set up a trail camera with help from the local wildlife trust and the thief was an otter! not bad seeing as there were two roads between the house and the river, god knows how it found the pond!! but apparently its becoming more common at otters move into more urban areas!
I built a bug hotel out of wooden pallets. The lowest one is held up on bricks and makes a good space under the hotel for hedgehogs, I've seen 3 different ones in the garden. I had a friend visit in the summer and we were sat outside talking. He suddenly went very quiet and said, 'what's that listen', looking very worried. Was just one of the hogs doing what they do and rummaging about behind the shed.

Great news that your Hog House has been deployed!

Brilliant Steve! A lovely addition to your garden especially with your new pond installed as well.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Here is a pic of my hog house with 3 hedgehogs inside!
They look nice and cozy
