Radio Luxembourg was for ever fading out on my parents very old radio "back in the day" @BenCotto, so l very rarely listened until l got a " tranny" around 1969 l think.
The carpet one isn't what l was thinking then. It's just like one of those quiz nights where you're sitting at the table and the answer is at the very back of your mind and you're desperately trying to capture it.

Thanks for letting me recreate the frustration 😁.

I know the first 3 for definite @JennyJ, plus the one in bold.
No idea about number 4 and could hazard a guess at number 5  :)

I suspect it's because I'm not interested in adverts, don't watch much commercial TV and when I do, generally I record stuff and fast-forward through the ads (showing my age and lack of interest in "modern" ways of doing things, probably!)
The one I do remember is from my childhood so if the others are from the same era they might be for things that I had no interest in so took no notice of the ads. My family didn't have a TV until 1971 so anything from before then, no chance at all of me recognising it :p

  • Our Gardening Club had our Xmas quiz tonight. Did you know the Temperence Society was outraged when the first Christmas cards came out?  It was because wine bottles were shown.

Those original, hand-coloured, cards cost - in today’s money - £5.25 each. However postage, at 44p, seems quite a bargain.
