PS2. I'll have you know my Oi shout is well remembered by my various offspring and nieces (as discussed on facebook, in fact!) and it did get your attention didn't it? It also works on my geological colleagues when needed.
I didn't Oi my cows, didn't need to really. If there was a problem with them coming in I sent my then collie to sort them. Main problem was the water meadows. The cows knew I couldn't get across the streams which crossed them except at certain points and they would take advantage of that if they weren't particularly bothered about coming in. So Megan would get the job of pointing out that they had better get moving. She had no trouble at all flying across and they only had to see her coming to change attitude. Very often she would just appear in a gateway and they would move in the right direction. Very bright collie was Megan. I had a rescue collie called Merlin and he always did as Megan said as well.
Open University students come in all sorts of guises. They only behave like 'normal' students during summer schools (well, some of them, that is). Most of them have full time jobs of all kinds from dustmen to gardeners to professionals hoping to raise their status. In the early days many of them, for one reason or another, had had no chance of a higher education and were determined to prove to the world and themselves they were more than capable of getting a degree. It was really a 70s revolutionary experiment which paid back in spades though it did upset a lot of husbands who thought a woman's place was you know where.
