Autumn Colour

ElusiveElusive Posts: 992

Its getting late into Autumn now, although the weather outside would make you think otherwise!

I thought we could post our lovely photos for others to enjoy, be it plants that are still hanging on, or plants that revel in the time of year.

I will get things started!

..you're doing well there ^...  still lots of summer bedding, Begonia's and Pelargoniums which I always use... a few roses still going, but when I saw 'autumn colour' I thought you might have meant this below...so that's all I can offer today...lol...

Ribes odoratum... I love these richly coloured leaves that it takes on right now... I think it's one of the best shrubs for this season and Spring..

My garden isnt big so there arent any trees really to speak of.

The Blueberry bush always has a lovely red colour though

  • Hi Mattbeer87, I bought some large gerbera plug plants a couple of months ago which I have potted on.  Have you grown your gerbera in beds or containers?  Also, do you need to protect them in winter?

    Great collection of photos.

..oh that's lovely colour on the Blueberry...

I grow them in containers Billie. I will put them in the greenhouse for the winter. If they survive for next year then that will be great.

  • Many thanks for that info Matt.  When I bought them they were advertised as hardy perennials but from your reply I have decided I will put them into unheated greenhouse for the winter.  I have occasionally seen them in containers in people's gardens but never noticed them in beds.

The drainage is better in a container, they dont like being too wet

The best "Autumn colour" in my huge garden is blazing out from one of the four young acersI

i brought as seedlings with two seed leaves on each from the Botanic Garden where I was weeding round the acers.
