I find it quite hard to get on with my kneeling stool when I use it in the kneeling position. The legs are useful to lean on to get up but it can be a bit unstable if the ground is uneven. I wouldn't want to rely on it if I really needed help to get up. I also find the legs get in the way when I'm actually working on it.
I do,however, like it as a little garden stool when working on raised beds etc
For border weeding & planting I much prefer to use a waterproof kneeling cushion given to me as a Xmas present. It's larger than the kneeling pads, much more padded so nice & comfy & very easy to shuffle along on. Mine is a posh Cath Kidston one but I must have had it for 10 yrs & it's still going strong. It doesn't,however, offer any help to get up if that's what you are looking for.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I should have said Alan - my stool is a plastic one - fairly sturdy but still a bit unstable on uneven ground. Perhaps the metal ones give more stable support if Kate needs a hand to get up?

Alan no name on it but in four languages it says do not stand on cushion??? it folds up for storage and I think my Daughter got it for me from M&S a long time ago.

Alan, I've just had a look at mine - no brand name on it. It is metal and folds up for storage.
