For me I can't do anything without my kneeling pad, they do some lovely ones in home base by Laura Ashley designers image

If Katie needs one that helps get up and down I would advise the strong sturdy plastic types which can also be used as a stool. I can't do links on here but places like Argos do them and I know my mum uses all the time

I have a good metal stool kneeling pad, when in the kneeling position it is a couple of inches off the soil so when I turn it the pad is not wet or dirty. The strong legs make it ideal for lowering yourself down and getting up again, a good pad either side makes it comfortable and it gets well used, definitely one of the best tools in my collection I would not be without it plus it cost me nothing it was a present, best of all worlds.

I have one as Frank describes above, very good but I still prefer knee pads; I get the JCB ones from B&Q. They are made for big fat men's legs, so I shorten the strap by sewing it, to fit my skinny legsimage. They also keep my knees warm when gardening in winter.

I misread that Artjak - I thought you sewed the pads to your legs!!!!!!!!! image
