Dead Heather?

Hello, planted this a month or two ago. Was originally purple but has since turned this ugly brown. There is still a tiny bit of green seen underneath. Soil is loam/clay and drains reasonably well. Has sunlight on it from midday through to sunset. Is the plant dead in your opinion or is it dying back for winter? What…
