Looks suspiciously like Nicandra physalodes, the Shoo Fly  plant

Looks like a pelargonium to me.

    Scratch and sniff?

What does it smell like if you bruise it artychris?

Is it that weed that gets those burrs that stick to your clothes. I had one last year, grew to about 5ft tall.

  • I have just bruised the leaves and to be honest it just smells 'leafy' with no specific odour.

There is a close up of the leaf if it helps

  • Could it be one of those wild mallows?

  • It is nearly 5 foot tall as well, which is why it is a little bit mysterious. Have looked up the shoo fly plant and it doesn't look the same, and even the pelargoniums look different leaves.

Has it got the signs of any buds coming, tucked down in the leaves.

Whatever it is, its a self sown weed.

  • I have looked up a mallow and it does look a little similar but I have had no flowers at all which I suppose is possible but would have expected it to have a mass of flowers, as it is in a sunny spot. Also it doesn' t seem to have any burrs on it either, still none the wiser really, but it is nice to have suggestions.
