Alan - it's 18.9C here inland a bit and the washing on the line is nearly dry
Sorry
Try registering your phone with the Telephone Preference Service - you can do it online - it doesn't stop all the call, but it does stop a lot of them - and the ones that do phone, it quickly shuts them up if you tell them they're breaking the law by making marketing calls to a number registered with the TPS - some try to get round it by saying it's a survey - but I just tell them that I used to work in marketing and I know that surveys are carried out for marketing purposes. I then go online and make a formal complaint. They don't ring back
Calls to 03 numbers are inclusive from landlines and from mobiles, else charged at 'geographic rate' - the same as for calls to 01 and 02 numbers.
When you call an 01, 02 or 03 number as part of an inclusive allowance on your landline, only the first 60 minutes of the call is inclusive. If you go over 60 minutes, the remainder of the call is chargeable at 'geographic rate'.
The absolute best way to deal with unwanted calls is to have caller ID enabled on your line and get a caller blocking phone (BT do an excellent one.) I've gone from 5 to 10 PPI type calls a day to none within 2 weeks. They still call but the phone doesn't ring and no messages can be left from blocked numbers. Bliss at last!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I have been registered with tps for years; when companies ask me to do a survey, I tell them I charge £20 for this service

That's a pretty comprehensive answer Ian. Pity you weren't here in 2014 when the question was asked

This forum page features high up the Google search results, so I guess it is looked at regularly - hence why I added an extra answer.
This government web page also gives a concise and accurate explanation:

Typo in the above URL... 'nunbers' should be 'numbers'.
