Here in Belgium we've been computerised for years and my doc reminds us all about boosters for tetanus and other stuff as well as annual checks for blood pressure, cholesterol and so on so we're all up to date - OH and me for gardening and Possum for horse-riding which is also mucky.  Her gardening genes haven't kicked in yet.  May have skipped a generation with her.

  • Well due another injection on thursday, i will ask, bet cha they wont do it! Will let you know what they say image
  • It's my understanding that you don't need tetanus boosters if you had a course as a child or several throughout your life. You might be given one if you have an accident, though.

  • Scanning my med notes I seem to have had a triple jab also containing diphtheria and polio. That's a ten year one and not an annual booster.

You wouldn't need an annual booster. I think it's quite likely that landgirl is right. When I left my practice nurse job 25 years ago that was being suggested.

But since then I've been offered boosters every ten years or so and accept them because it's easy and I've seen tetanus.  And I don't want it.

  • Good thread, I stabbed my toe with a gardening fork (yes I did have shoes on!!) Note to all, keep a first aid box in your shedimage (and get a jab)
