  • David, tell me about it Northallerton  is on the way to my Son's Leeming Village they have a Betty's so I never got past Northallerton with my wife without a wander along the High Street and a call in Betty's for in my case a "Fat Rascal" their take on the scone + the Cake I got already has a large bit missing and very nice too.

Looked up the Strictly thread do not agree with some comments, Judy is a very determined lady and may shock us all, big girls can dance as I found out at a young age going to the big lads Dance, I got my tea and bun free (too young for the pub) dancing with the girl who served behind the counter, it was never a chore.

The sun vanished so it is the conservatory whilst Daughter goes mad in the bathroom, I said it is clean, "Dad you are getting a lot of visitors tomorrow I am not having a bathroom that is not spotless" Oo eck as like, hide the biscuits and cake.

  • Sounds good, Frank. Remember the (sadly no more) 'Strictly' forum?......You really had to be on your toes too post there. image

So glad you're home again Frank - and the garden is truly good medicine, whether it's just pottering and letting the mind sort out niggling problems, or just ignoring them and allowing real mental refreshment!

Good luck for speedy complete recovery - also Alan and Mike who have had their  (un)fair share of hospitals, too!

  • So true SV, I feel the strength pour back into me as I either sit in my sun trap at the end of the garden or in the conservatory with the doors and windows open. There appears to be a glut of insects on the flowers buzzing away, it reminds you the sun is the power house of life we all need it. On GW last night (which gets later by the week) Margaret was pottering around her lovely garden at 100 years of age looking years younger, we cannot put it all down to her garden though I would wager spending her life gardening has helped. I was with my Daughter Margaret to recover, she has been in her new house 15 months and got the garden looking lovely, considering she once brought very seriously ill plants to me to give the kiss of life she has suddenly taken off as a gardener, gardening it seems is in us all, better than all those vitamin pills they try to sell us.

    Frank.

  • Quite agree, Frank. Not a fan of everything GW, but the lady Margaret was an inspiration and her looks certainly belie her age.,,,,,,a lovely lady!

    Keep well.

funny thing is ,when i spoke to the anesthetist before the op we chatted away and thinking of all the other ops iv just had i said yes same as before no probs and that was it,in the pre op room they sprayed my back with the coldest stuff ever it was funny and injected i felt nothing, but then as we were going into the theater i said shouldn't i be going to sleep now ,""you chose the spinal"" she said ? well what a laugh Dead from the neck down golden oldies  music, a warm air blower keeping me at set temp, and the hammering sawing bit of burning smell ,the table was bumping and shacking all over the staff were so funny and what an experience  coming back into my room wide awake and feeling great Kate couldnt believe it said, I would recommend the spinal block anesthetic every time if poss ,well done the NHS Good luck Frank suns coming up erein Norfolkimage

  • Alan yes know what you mean, had that experience way back in BMH Fayid, another stroke of luck, they had flown a top London Surgeon out to operate on a General, they wheeled me in as he finished, he took over, strange watching them put you back together through the mirror of the huge lamp and chatting to the nurse holding my head. I was told every day of the three weeks I was in hospital how lucky I was he happened to be there. This time it was out cold for eight hours, my last memory was asking if they could cut my hair whilst I was out.

Sun is trying here on Teesside, it has to fight with the North sea mists, "Aha" the first beams coming through the window so out to the Garden for my vitamin "C" the natural way. Keep well Alan.

    Frank.

  • Aww, Dove....will a hug help? I would imagine for you, this would be a killer. image How did you manage to do that? image

I'm thinking of opening an 'Emergency ward 10' thread. image

  • Tripped over my own foot and fell flat on my face on the terrace David image  It could've been worse - I smashed my face and shoulder on some big flowerpots, but luckily I found the plastic ones and not the big terracotta ones - I could've lost my teeth! image
