Interesting Verdun. There are always specific examples. My MIL was in a similar situation to your mother and when my FIL was put into hospital she couldn't get any help with transport from her home to the hospital, and she couldn't drive! and also there was no public transport where they lived on the Sunshine Coast. She was really upset after all her years of devotion and loyalty.

Best to get it out of your system, as you just did, and get on with your own particular needs.  Hope you can get some sleep after this.image

Maybe if we want to talk religion/Christmas etc it should have it's own thread?  Don't want to wander too far from the reason KEF started this one image

Verdun. Without Christmas, a proper Christmas not just an excuse to go crazy in the shops, we'd have nothing to do in the dark winter nights.

Do you not realise how many babies this could generate?? Seriously guys we need excuses to be

    too tired

    too full of food

    too busy hiding presents

too upset and angry that you -brought-me-an-ironing-board-when-I-loudly-hinted-at-that-expensive-jewellery

too aww just let me watch this movie its my favourite

too drunk in a I might puke way

to have any even inclination to take off our sixteen thermal vests and cuddle under a blanket.

Yes for some there is a huge religious reason behind Christmas and let them enjoy it because in a few months they have to explain to children all about Zombie Jesus (it was a very traumatic Sunday School the year I first learnt about Zombies I'll tell you).

For the rest of us it is an excuse to stop worrying about what we eat, about projects at work, rest, enjoy just sitting on the sofa "because we can", fill our worlds with colour, and despite the fact that we moan the rest of the year hope desperately for snow just so that we can get out there and be silly. Oh, and not forgetting that once Christmas is over the spring bulb catalogues appear! image

Am I the only Christian in this forum? We try to help each other, I've driven people to hospital over an hour away and done shopping for people etc and so do others in the Cof E in this part of France. But I agree that you don't have to be a Christian to help people. I just wish people wouldn't keep slamming off Christians like Verdun did on the previous page, it's as though they are worse than everyone else, which isn't true. We are all human, some better or worse than others, whether Christians or not. I find it hurtful so it is a worry and trouble for me. I wasn't going to post again on this subject.
