David - I'm sending you a virtual bouquet love ...image

Only left handed socks Verd? I only seem to have left handed hands these days..image

The past, present ,future is a pertinent one. I've just bought one of the ceramic poppies from the Tower installation. As I said on Forkers thread, I was lucky - he came back. If he hadn't - my Mum wouldn't have existed.

The past makes us what we are. It's up to us how we use it. image

Well, I suppose this ties in to why I've not been here at all lately. I've been given the great task of finding somewhere new to live after the landlord decided it was time to sell up and uproot us from our home, and the little garden we loved and put a lot of money into.... Hit us hard, and was time consuming finding somewhere to live that was affordable, within proximity to the allotment, which sadly fell the the wasteside (is that the right turn of phrase) the past month and is just a bunch of weeds, and our potatoes were rotten, broad beans ruined with rust... ho hum.

Long story short we've hopefully secured somewhere for the end of next month, it just feels so unfair to leave where we love, and pay a fortune to go so he makes himself a sweet little profit... Business heh? I can't begrudge him selling his own property, but it hasn't half ruined the best time of the summer for me, sent my anxiety rocketing with strangers coming to the house every day to fix things we were promised would have been sorted when we moved in.

We'd waited a year for the damp to be fixed, we finally got it sorted, the next day he comes around to say sorry but he's selling. It's one way to make you feel worthless and undervalued isn't it? image

I have no intention on leaving him any plants, even if they don't survive transporting to a pot they'll make compost and nice cut flowers, what should I do with bulbs that are still flowering, are they a sacrifice we'll have to make?

New garden is at the back of the house with a shed no less! Every cloud!

SPea. I won't comment further than to say - I've been on both sides of the rental market and it's not always straightforward unfortunately.

I've lost count of how often I've moved in the last four years but every move is a new challenge so seize it with both hands. If you need seeds and plants to get going in your new place, there will be loads of offers here from the forum so don't hesitate to ask. image

Sorry to hear about your situation sweatpea, but a new garden beckons, i hope we can all help you plan it, dont forget the wish list thread if there is anything you want for your garden, im sure if any of us have it we will send you some image

If you lift bulbs with enough soil around so that the roots aret disturbed, they should carry on as if nothing happened, no sacrifices needed!image

You have a lovely fresh start ahead of you, best wishes x

Thanks Bekkie, will try to do that, will they need lifting and replanting into new soil immediately? Is that a terrifically stupid question to ask?

Sorry for hijacking the thread somewhat

We have all the veg we could ever need rb, the local GC was selling all it's seeds for 50p each! We got absolutely tonnes! Thank you for the offer though image Aiming to get a nice trellis for the shed and grow blue morning glory over the wall. Heaven know how long it'll take to establish. I'd like to stay there long term though, that's for sure!
