What is this yellow flowering bush.
in Plants
I have a yellow annual flowering bush with flowers that last for weeks. Its a bit like a beach sunflower but grows much taller and is currently 6ft and spreading well. Can anyone identify it.

Hi Keith
Possibly a coropsis
In the sticks near Peterborough
Now I would say it was one of the Helianthus tribe, if it is 6 feet tall.
Yes, that is tall for a coropsis

Agree with Berghill, if that tall probably a Helianthus.
When you don't even know who's in the team
S.Yorkshire/Derbyshire border
Looks like Helianthus 'Lemon Queen' to me.
Do you think when Keith said annual he means it comes every year?
I was looking for an annual.
I had realised that 'bush' didn't mean shrub
Lemon Queen seems very likely

Yes it flowers every year.
That's a perennial Keith.
Gardenspeak; annuals flower seed then die in one season, perennials live for years and come back and flower each summer
I think Liriodendron is probably right, definitely a Helianthus, and most likely Lemon Queen

....what I've always called sunflowers! The sort of plant that neighbours pass on to each other to plant at the back of a border. They look good with michaelmas daisiers which are in bloom right now too.
Thanks for the info. The plant is my elderly mothers and yellow is her favorite colour. I think I may take a root and grow it my garden as it looks spectacular in a large border setting.
