That was the other option as I have an old tin bin that I could put holes in to burn it?  Could I then put the cold ash on the compost?

I did have a shredder but it was hopeless. I now cut up everything and if I can't get it into one of my 4 green bins (I have good neighbours), I bag it and take it to the tip.

  • I am lucky to have a paddock where I can build a nice pile , let it get nice and dry, and when the wind blows in the right direction get a really hot blaze going. It's over in no time. I have lived here for 15 years and have had only 4 bonfires. The ash is good for your shrubs and compost OL.
