They're bossing it now........

VerdunVerdun Posts: 23,348

Echinaceas are bossing my garden now.......they love this summer.  For summer long vibrancy in any sunny spot and perfect partnership with grasses right now echinaceas take some beating.  Doubles, singles, whites, yellows, pinks, reds, oranges etc.  A big clump of Marmalade has loads of large orange amd brown amd yellow flowers on 4' stems and already has been flowering for weeks.

Will you let echinaceas boss your garden?  image

The slugs bossed my echinaceas. I saved the standard purple ones, but all the fancy colours were grazed as fast as they came through.

..I like them, but you can't have everything...and they're not currently on my make room for list... might be next season...

Once, just once. I had a flower on an echinacea before it died. They've been removed from my wanted list

I'm trying to create a bed of mainly pink echinaceas. It takes time but so far so good. The ones which died off two winters ago have come back too. I love the way that each flower can have several bees or insects on it.  They can boss away here!

Mine are 'just' thinking about opening up but the petals are still curled lengthways.

look forward to when my 3 boss my garden (all 3 flowers that is not 3 plants!) Cloched them over winter and very proud they are still here!image

The boss in this border is the Montbretia, must thin them out next year.
