  • Figrat  ----   That little gadget looks very handy, I think there will be a rush on to buy them. They are also available on Ebay.

Kate,---- I think Figrat has probably supplied you with the ideal solutionimage. My OH uses something called a wetstone, and oil, sounds messy to me.image

We have these people called The Tinkers who come in their van in the spring for a week or so and sharpen everything, including my ancient paper cutter! I touch things up with a stone in between times. Having sharp tools is a delight!

I sharpen all our knives, secateurs, anything with blades, myself - my father taught me. My friends warn each other about my knives etc., as they are all extremely sharp - so much safer that way.  Secateurs are easy enough to do - the little gadget shwn earlier works well, as does the one that looks like a pen and clips in your pocket for a quick rub up between jobs.

  • Hi, in a recent episode of G/W Monty Don showed how to sharpen your garden tools including a secateurs,it might still be available on iplayer,(use an oilstone with some light machine oil and rub the curved blade in a figer of eight over the lubed stone,
