I noticed that the viola seed I planted broke the soil. I bet they will be in full bloom two days after they are needed. :-P

Yeah think it will be the spice called cloved. I use it in a lot of beef dishes. But don't use too much. Can be a little over powering.
  • I have never poked anything into oranges before what could that be Beckieimage

Its a spice, dont know how old you are, but oil of cloves used to be used in dentistry, they are also poked into pork when you do that fancy diamond pattern on the skin. Either way they are little brown things that look a bit like the bit that comes off the top of an orange, fairly easy to get in the spice section of the supermarket, and often used in pickling image

Not that ive ever done it, i hate anything remotely culinary! image

Steven - look in the spice section at the supermarket, a clove is seed head off something spicy (someone will know what), often used in apple pies and stuff - cooks usually try to remove them before serving (it's like a short dried twig with 4 dried leaves and a seed on it - about 1/4" long overall). Some people hate them, very strong flavour, you don't need many!

Definitely not to be confused with a clove of garlic.

  • Thanks u guys do I need to use it to pickle beet root or not thank u image

I like cloves but detest beetroot! I only grow it because my OH was interested in its nitric oxide content??? image
