There are worse things to be addicted toimage

It does dent the bank balance a bit! Have a look at realseeds.com or chilternseeds for something different image

Just make sure the purple carrots are never allowed to dry out as they can be a bit woody image
  • Oooh Bekkie...don't tell me about any more seed sites! I will just have to go and look now, just to be polite!!!image And thanks for the advice on the carrots-if thet are a bit woody, they will keep him quiet whilst OH chews them!image

    Linda! image
  • Just a quick update, we dug up the onions and a few carrots at the weekend. No sign of any pests on them. Might be beginners luck! Hoping the rest of the carrots will be ok now the onions are gone.  tomatoes are looking good as well so far.

Had the carrots with our corn cobs can't believe how tasty they are, wish we'd got an allotment years ago.  Much more enjoyable to dig out whatever is ready, to have for dinner, than trawling round the supermarket!

Have you planned what to grow next year growalottie? image
  • We eat a lot of salad so definitely lettuce, toms, radish and beetroot. Haven't been very succesful with spring onion or cucumber this year but think we might give them another go.  potatos, carrots and sweet corn taste amazing so will be growing them again. Courgettes and swiss chard have been great for quick stir frys and looking forward to making soup with the squashes.  onions and garlic as the base for most dishes. Havent been succesful with cabbage or fennel. We still have a bit to dig over so will like to try some new things but not sure what.  Any recommendations? (sorry about the waffling!)

Kailaan is fab, its really quick and dead easy to use

Courgette black forest has been good

I always grow the cabbages in pots first, or buy plants, they are prone to everything when they are small image

Spring onion is something i struggle with too, just one of those strange things!

Do you have a greenhouse? Melons are a treat to grow, the smell is amazing!
