Someone said above (I can't use the 'quote' function at the moment) that plants from seed do better than those bought in.
I wonder if there's a mechanism that ensures that seeds bearing genes for doing well in the current habitat are more likely to germinate there. Or, more probably, those seedlings are the ones to survive or at least grow more strongly so they get selected.
