Bless you , i really should be better organised, im just like a kid in a sweet shop when i go to the GC, i get the plants i love, but nothing to go with them, and cannot resist fruit trees, i have 19! Only got a small patch!
Your winter/spring garden sounds so pretty, i would like to have something like that, have a good spot for it too, maybe this is my chance to get organised!
I'm the same, nut. For many years, absolutely everything in my garden was grown from seed - it's only the last few years I've started buying in shrubs and hardy perennials, and mainly only those cultivars which aren't available from seed. The acers I've grown from seed are still alive, whereas all of the ones I've planted have eventually succumbed to Honey Fungus, so it does seem you end up with stronger plants.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Wowee glad to hear I'm not the only one who enjoys planning ahead!
I also keep a diary where I write what I have done that day, any problems or purchases and also what the temperature is.
I do have borders in the back garden with perennials and shrubs, I just like to add bedding displays in the front border and my many many many pots and baskets! Lol
..usually buy in a few Viola's...white/blue...and some Tulips... 'Red Impression' will be the main choice this season... otherwise it's hibernation time.. sorry...

It's the seed lists that get me every time.
