whats happened to my lily?

I have an oriental lily growing in my garden, its about 3 ft tall, nothing unusual about that, but its stem is 4 inches wide and a I/4 inch thick, and has hundreds of leaves, infact it looks quite hairy, but the big bonus is that there must be over a 100 flower buds developing on the crown. last year it was severely attacked by snails, so didn't notice anything strange

Is this a freak of nature?

Gdonkey - is it a Eucomis - pineapple lily - rather than an oriental type? It looks very similar to that. What are the flowers like or have you not had any on it before?

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • its definitely an oriental lily...

Perhaps it's just going to throw up lots of extra growth and give a great display - I hope so! image

Have you had it long and what colour flowers does it have Gdonkey?
