Artjak - are they ordinary honey bees? If so it may be a swarm in which case (a) they'll be pretty docile and (b) you could get your local beekeeper to come and collect them. He'll be grateful, as long as you're quick:
a swarm of bees in June is worth a silver spoon
a swarm of bees in July isn't worth a fly!
If they're wild social bees they can probably be persuaded to move: again a beekeeper will have the knowledge. If they're bumble bees (in fact most sorts) they'll do no harm anyway.
Next door had two nests in their roof last year - lots of apparent activity from the 'sentries' at the entrance, but absolutely no problems and my beans were pollinated wonderfully well! They're not there this year.

We've had a couple of bumble bee nests and they don't reuse them.I've just seen some going under our eaves today. Husband is trying to point the house but will be leaving that area until they die and the queen leaves.
Thank you all for the info about bees; I haven't seen them close up, only from a distance, they are smaller than bumble bees and my builder said they are in the roof space or between the tiles so a beekeeper would not be able to access them.

jatnik... I have a fearsome Jack Russell, so I don't think any cats will dare, hopefully, to attack and rats have all been scared off too.
