Biennial / Perennial growing from seed
in Plants
Ok, having posed the question on another thread briefly and having had quite good success with annual seeds and veg (so far - touch wood!), I think I may dip my toes into trying growing biennials and perennials....this means a few more questions from me; 1. Best varieties to grow - not just for colour but for ease as I'm a newbie to it 2. Sowing advice - do they need to be in the GH or outside 3. Any other general tips and advice that I might need Realistically, how much patience do I actually need?? Thanks in advance, again

Foxgloves much the same technique as wallflowers though they seed themselves once you get them started.

They're like any other seed Orchid, I sowed some perennials 2 weeks ago in pots, they have all germinated and are getting to the stage where I can pot them on. I just pot on into 7 or 9cm pots in mpc and put them to one side to grow on with some slug and snail protection. I use a cold frame, no lid with sharp sand for them to sit on. By the autumn, they will be ready to plant out. As for your varieties, well take your pick. Sarah Raven does some nice perennials and I get good germination with her seed. It's only a few pence dearer, so I find it's worth it.
Edit to say - they were actually on Suttons where I was before Sarah Raven
Foxgloves are poisonous, don't know that they're skin irritant. Half the garden is poisonous. Don't eat the flower garden

I like Sweet Williams too and I have Delphiniums already, free from GW
I'm going to look for Sweet Williams now...I only want 2-3 varieties as don't want to end up taking too much on.
Can you eat campanulas OL?
