Becks, Nothing disturbs that cat ! He's a she called Mitzi and she went straight back to sleep. How are your toms today ? Hope the blight hasn't spread.

Glyn, are you sure Rocky hasn't been on his hols to Essex ? They have called off the search for the lion and are now saying they think it could be a domestic cat. image

Kate - my garden is a mess ! pots blown over, rain pounding down and some of the cobaea has migrated off the trellis ! Hope it dies down so I can get out and sort everything out but I've no chance at the moment. image

Chris - yes , she's the boss and she knows it ! Spoilt rotten. image

Question, why , when my kitchen  is painted a pale shade of lemon did it turn very blue when hubby fitted new blind ? !!! imageimageimage

Stems a bit blacker today Jean. image But luckily, it is only the two plants in the ground (which are next to each other) that have it. Their flowers have only just appeared. My good plants are in containers up the top end of the garden by the house.

It's the potatoes I'm stumped on. Presumed it was the same, but all the Haulms are perfect. Just the odd leaves with those brown splodges on. I took those off yesterday, and no new have appeared. Yet. As they are flowering, I'm not sure what to do. Whether to chop all the haulms, just in case, or leave be for a while. I have noticed that some of the lower leaves just above the compost are bright yellow though. image

Oh Becks what a shame. I wouldn't have a clue as I don't grow veg but someone will be here soon to hopefully help you out. I thought I may try a few toms next year but I'm not so sure now. Think I may just stick to herbs. At least you have a couple of good plants like you say.

Jean it is hard to believe we live on the same island, it has tried to rain here but not very successfully but the wind has been trying to knock the plants around. I have taken a cutting from my wilted cobaea and brought it inside, I get very frustrated when I grow plants but they do not flower before the frosts, I just wondered if they were a perennial in a warmer climate.

Becks I found veg growing much harder than it sounds, I still do not have flowers on my tomatoes so they will have to be composted soonimage

Cold chicken salad tonight. Neighbours 2 doors down are having a very noisy BBQ so we will be salivating soon.

It hasn't put me off at all Jean, but I will know next year what I did wrong this year at least.

Kate, I have noticed this morning I have 2 spindly little things that failed miserably when hardening off, that are no more than 10 inches tall (You can see have small they are by the pots) have put out flowers! I'm absolutely amazed!! It won't even hold the weight of one tomato I should think! Poor thing. There's time yet!!

    Evening everyone.

Chris, Prinses Irene in my local garden centre best in the north according to Which), 99p for 5. I could post some if you like!
  •  Wow! Glyn, that's very kind of you, but I have just ordered some from J Parker, they are going to keep some for me when they get stock, £1.85 for 10, but I really appreciate your offer. Is the garden centre near Todmorden? We used to visit one there some years ago when we were in Yorkshire seeing friends, if it is the same one, I remember it as being excellent, but may be I haven't got the right  one.

We have just been watching the Edinburgh Tattoo, what a show! really enjoyed it,I am going to google the drummers Top Secret as I didn't get the info on them, they were amazing. then getting ready to watch New Tricks.

Our daughter and OH should have come for a meal tonight but I got a phone call to say she had a very bad cold and didn't want to give it to us, so they didn't come.image  We will be eating cold roast pork all week.image Luckily I hadn't done anything else other than defrost the meat.
