  • i thought sophie was great on her first programme. yes ,she named a few plants but she kept going and on a live broadcast, thats no easy task(see bruce forsyth)

I love monty but agree he does look a bit tired, and doesn't seem to be as into Chelsea as alan t. was. but its nice to have a change.

agree about nikki and the handing out of the medals, every year..

I would love to go to Chelsea but am put off by the crowds, everyone I know who has gone has complained about how squashed it is.

so weve just booked for tatton park, hope its good!!

If you go to Chelsea the best tip I can give you is to go early and make sure you book into the "sit down" restaurants in advance so you can escape the crowds (Or if you can find someone who can get you into the corporate areas image).

Tatton is excellent though its also very busy so arrive early and again book in front if you want to sit down for nice food and wine without feeling like your queueing at Disney for a ride.

Got to agree mr power salino! I,m recording all Chelsea so can forward through it, I, m enjoying minty presenting, big surprise, I am a minty fan, all other presenters ok I think, the gardens are mostly not my kind of thing, it,s more art than gardening, nice. Enough to look at but when. We start getting into discussions about representations I start to glaze over! Nice to have lots of plants to look at though!

  • I have been to Chelsea and have to say I absolutely love every minute of it.  We took a picnic basket and we sat on the grassed area and listened to a jazz band playing in the bandstand (we were very lucky with the weather) .  I am a huge Alan fan and was lucky to see him and get a photo of him.  It is not the same without him.  Am hoping to go again next year and my niece who is 10 years old wants to come with us.  She is so into gardening it is great to see.

I have missed AT this year.  Monty has come good, as they say, in GW - he seems to be at ease in his own garden, and it shows.  But he is rather out of his comfort zone, it seems to me, as a presenter.

It's a few years since I last went to Chelsea - and agree that the crowds are a problem.  You see more of the gardens on TV than you do on site.  But the atmosphere can't be as good in your living room as it is at the show!

I remember buying a few plants at the sell-off, and they were disappointing.  Better, I think, to note what you want, and buy at the nursery or order from a reputable supplier.  After all, the plants at Chelsea have been stressed to perform for a few particular days, and by the time you get them home, they are even more stressed!

I prefer Mr T but we are all different and will each have our own preference.

Hi I am going to Chelsea for the first time tomorrow with hubby and 7yr old daughter. We are really looking forward to it but not liking the current weather forecast!

I have to admit that I always end up being rather disappointed with the TV coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show. I've seen quite a few of the programmes, but I haven't seen nearly enough of the show gardens, especially the small ones and the ones that didn't win gold medals. There is an awful lot of chat and interviewing of celebrities and growers. I want to see plants, not people! People are on all the other TV programmes.
