Thanks Obelixx, there's loads on there, I'll enjoy browsing!

My hordeum seeds have arrived so will get sown in trays soon. Not going to sow direct as want to get them started and border shape not decided or dug out yet.

Oh, and how close to the new clematis can I plant them? Will also use some slate from the other side of the path around the clem so not really a problem.

I never use slate round clematis as it shelters slugs who love to much on new clmatis shoots.    What are you planning to put at the base of your clematis as that makes a difference to planting distances?

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Not sure yet obelixx what will go there. Would the same advice apply for other hard material around the Clem such as pebbles? Using small plant pots arm.

Getting more ideas for wafty planting, gypsophilia? Aquillegeas?

Remember seeing ? Penesetium? (spelling?) last year, would that work?

    liking fennel as well.

Went for a wander at GC, nothing much in the way of grasses there.

    camassia caerulea,? lychnis jenny,?

saw the in B&Q overdam £5, but veering towards red, browns, purples.

Also googling saw Muhlenbergia capillaries, which looks fun.

Have got 2-3 guara but a pink variety which could go well.

Karl F looks good as does imperata, can these be grown from seed?

Got Nigella seeds which will give a low waft! Cosmos but probably too high without staking.

What did you think to the disjointed pathy plan?

Carex comans bronze is so easy from seed. A dozen plants in no time at all.
