  • Some of my aphids are a pinky orange, which stains the fingers slightly...image is this because of what they're eating? It's a floribunda rose...

I've noticed that they dont like smoke. I'm a smoker and have tried blowing the smoke on the aphids to see if they didnt like it like bees. that seems to get rid of some of them at least... but probably not the best solution...

I get it Thomas - you're trying to find reasons to carry on smoking ......... image LOL

Talking of pests and beer, (?!), are snails rather partial to kniphofia? my new plants didn't appear to be coming up and on closer look I think they are but someone if munching them back down.  Snails/slugs perhaps?  Other plants nearby seem ok.

no....image heheh - but on that topic - I've heard ash is a good fertilizer.. does that include cigarette ash? I figured it would be too full of unpleasant things.

Wood ash from burnt twiggy growth contains potash/potassium which is good for the soil, but ciggy ash - sorry - you can't use that as an excuse either image

  • Supernoodle, (ace name!)

my kniphofias seem stuck at ground level too- I might have to investigate...

I dug one up by mistake some weeks back and it was sprouting nicely, reburied it and nothing...

    Hmm.
