Installed bird feeders yesterday. No takers as yet. Think they look rather nice! (poppy shaped bowls on sticks) Suspect will be posting a thread later this year on how to get rid of the weeds under....
here birdy birdy....aphid with sunflower seeds on the side.... Fat and mealworms for pudding...here birdy birdy...
Sprayed with washing up liquid each day. There's less but still there. Just found a ladybird in my son's potty (???!!!!!!) so have moved her onto the worst infested rose.
Probably - it's the result of the lovely clean air we have here Snoodle - as there's only a few leaves affected pinch them off and burn them. If they die and fall to the ground the spores are there on the surface of the soil to reinfect your rose bush so try to avoid that if you can.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Cheers Dove. Just bought a fungus spray (one that doesn't kill bugs) so will give a skirt of that too. It's only on that rose bush so far so fingers crossed caught it before it spreads.
I've noticed that they dont like smoke. I'm a smoker and have tried blowing the smoke on the aphids to see if they didnt like it like bees. that seems to get rid of some of them at least... but probably not the best solution...
