..I sowed my sweet peas directly outside a few weeks ago and they are now a few inches tall... I don't do autumn sowings now as I don't want sweet pea flowers until mid July as my garden tends to suffer a bit of a gap at that time, so it's nice to have them then along with Hemerocallis and other lovelies...
....I'm growing 2 varieties 'Erewhon' and 'Purple Pimpernel'...
Very true Hollie that thought did cross my mind whilst that was happening, fingers cossed
Salino I have planted a few different varieties, I don't usually bother with Autumn Sowings but thought this year I would give it a go aswell as Spring to see how they compare
In that case, after reading everyone's comments, I think I shall be less careful with sweet peas in future. Interesting to hear what others do, thanks very much.
Hi everyone, I spent today building my trellis for my sweet pea. had fun experimenting with different shapes and designs, all a bit 'rough' but hopefully will do the job our garden is quite close to the sea so wind is often a feature, have chosen most sheltered spots and went crazy with twine & string to keep them together My sweet pea are now planted out and hopefully will enjoy their new home! wind was dreadfully cold today, lets hope the hardening off for past few weeks has done the job
Hey everyone.... if I want to plant my sweet peas in pots, can anyone advise on what size pots I should ideally use? Do they need to be really deep pots or??

They do need to be pretty deep for the roots. I use a really big pot for mine that I can stand a wigwam in
