I planted 9 seeds ive only got 7 come up but they do look very healthy. the weather is very nice now so hope they will soon be able to go outside in ground, still have to beware of a ground frost
Hi Jacqueline 5 my sunflowers are about 4 inches high I will plant them out about may time I'm in retford that's Lincolnshire I'm a northerner is that helpful lass ?
I have little teeny tiny babies Jacqueline, sowed them 9 days ago now but they are in the GH so expected them to take a bit longer. My new dark ones have come up first and can't wait to see what they look like. LOVE sunflowers
Mine are a good size now around 4 inches so I have planted some out and also experimenting with my daughter. I have put about 9 around the garden and a couple i have put in bigger pots in the house with a bottle cut at the bottom acting as a mini greenhouse for me and my girl to watch grow in the house till its a bit bigger.
I give it that jacqueline 5 I will have to pop to the florist to get some wire to help them on the way
I started mine off in greenhouse, they are around 4inches now moved them to cold frame. Last year we grew giant ones which were fab at the allotment. Must get some more seeds. The ones I have set are a smaller paler variety which I got free on a magazine so will be fun to see how they turn out.
Max, I got some free from a magazine called Brown Eyed Girl, they are small although maybe not 'dwarf' and they had multiple flower heads too, I've never seen sunflowers before with more than one flower head, and when I dead headed them they just kept growing. They were fab, but couldn't find any this year although I did have some seeds let so have sown them.
Mine have been in the GH 9 days now and only just germinating, I have 4 different varieties in, although 1 of them I don't hold much hope for!!!
