Hi Crazyflower if you painted it I think that would of helped protect your plants from the chemicals and you will have to line areas with like weed matting to put the compost and strawberry plants in

So I would use the pallet, I have only had heat treated ones

  • Hi Gardengirl, thanks for your reply, was hoping someone on this thread wud c my post. I am bit reluctant to use it for strawberries, I may find another use for it that doesnt include edibles, perhaps a cold frame like uve made. It was a nice new looking pallet and it wasn't stamped with anything so thought it was OK. I've got loads of strawberry plants and not a v big garden.

Where does everyone get the heat treated pallets from?

I go around just looking for pallets normally find they have the HT sign on them so builders near by or skips

    or off Gumtree on freebies

Flowers will look nice in them trailing ones or shorter ones if having it vertical, and a cold frame is brilliant really like mine still it proves really useful

  • You guys are amazing, so inspirational. I have acquired three small pallets and have been wondering what to do with them. OH isn't too impressed with them languishing in our porch. image

I had wondered whether i could make some kind of staging out of them, that or a place to keep apples from our Bramley tree in when it fruits- we always have so many  and our freezer simply isn't big enough!

Great Hollie hock now you have somewhere where those seedlings can go, nice it being a heated greenhouse

Those steps look a brilliant idea

  • Oh you guys are going to hate me, ive got a big pallet and 2 small ones that are kind of broke, i have advertised them on fb local for anyone that wants them for their log burner, ive looked at pinterest loads of good ideas, but ive no idea how to make a thing, i live on my own and hopeless at building anything, also the wood is pretty muddy and dirty. image
