I sowed a packet of seeds last week, everyone germinated. I once saw someone on the tv say it was so quick and easy to grow that they just treated it as an annual. Anyone else tried this?

I sowed a packet of seeds last week, everyone germinated. I once saw someone on the tv say it was so quick and easy to grow that they just treated it as an annual. Anyone else tried this?
I read that they treat them as annuals in the US in the southern states because they don't get the cold in the winter. Having had seedling plants from the nursery though I'd have thought it would make more sense to keep three or four plants to grow as perennials, that is don't crop those ones for a year.
What variety did you get, that is fast germination?

Just noticed my rhubarb is coming through yet again; so exciting as it does not seem to grow well around here.
