Help for flooded gardens

  • I had a friend with the same problem after the floods in UK, so me and my mates decided to surprise him and restore his garden. The problem was that we were unable to do so much work in a limited time (while he is at work). So, we called a gardening company to help us out and we did it in 6 hours. It was hell of a job, but it was worth it. We made my friend so happy that he almost cried like a child image If you looking for help in London, we called these garden pros to help us out. Cheers.

    Hi Rosie31, Artjak & others

I have had an offer from a Bathfreegle member for her to email members of the Golf Club she belongs to (most are keen gardeners apparently) to see if they will donate plants as well.  Is this worth doing do you think - is it a case of the more plants the merrier?  I don't mind the driving around and collecting bit but wasn't sure just how many plants are needed.  Are we talking hundreds and hundreds?

Has there been any feedback yet from the actual Somerset gardeners concerned?

Lizzie, I would think that it is worth it; perhaps Rosie can advise here. Also if you do facebook, apparently there is some info there on something like 'community in bloom'. Again, Rosie is the one who knows about that.image

I am potting up loads of plants as I know from making my garden from scratch how many plants you need to fill a space.image

Sorry to be so silent, folks, I've been chasing my tail! A few quick answers below, I promise I'll catch up at the weekend...

Lizzie, yes, Andrew says he can use all the plants we can supply, with many many thanks.

Nut, yes we need some staging posts, let's try and drum some up from our volunteers?  I was going to start a new thread just asking for help on transport but haven't got round to it yet - if anyone else would like to do so please do!  Otherwise I'll get to it at the weekend...

Orchid, thanks for the kind words!

artjak and others, if you are on facebook, look for 'Community Blooms'.   You should be able to find it although I know some people have had problems - let me know if it works for any of you?

Sorry my friends, I've got to dash - speak later better!image

    Hi Rosie and others,

I've just collected 10 carrier bags of asters and a crate of bergenias off Freecycle members but as they are not potted up (and I've run out of pots) I will have to get them down to Somerset I think within the next couple of days.  Rosie, if you can find time to PM me with the address where they are to go to, I'll have a day out on the Levels!

I've also said yes please to the lady at the Golf Club who's already organised a email to members, so watch this space - I might well be inundated soon.image
