Lyn, it wasn't just the flooded houses, I think that far more gardens were flooded and also some gardens were bulldozed to create a barrier against the rising water.image

I don't have much, but if anyone knows anyone in Worcester affected by our floods, I have some Zinnia, Marigolds and Dahlias to give away... Nothing too exciting, but it's all I have for the moment, I will have carnations and candytuft ready in a couple of weeks too...

It might not help anyone, but I know the flooding was quite bad on the St John side of things, I was a lucky one!

I read somewhere earlier about meeting someone on the M55 on 1st May, I could have done that to help but can't do 1st May as I have a 2 day meeting in Hull, so sorry as I would have helped, please PM me if there is any other day that someone needs meeting near there.

St John's in in Worcester, and is close to the river that burst it's banks in the central of the city, I can't tell you too much because I've not lived here long myself!

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/uk-weather-flooding-in-worcester-causes-river-severn-to-hit-highest-level-on-record-9127025.html

I recall St John, just an area of worcester being worse effected as the bridge over the Severn that connects them to the city centre was too unsafe to use and was closed to traffic and later pedestrians. People were unable to get to work, and a lot of the shops had to close early - mine included for safety of staff returning home, and of course the lack of people able to get into town! The bus service had up to four hour queues!

From what I saw on the news the flooding here wasn't as bad as in the south, but I am aware that a considerable amount of damage was done to a lot of properties and gardens, and I'm sure there are keen gardeners out there that did have their gardens effectively ruined, but I've been unable to source local gardener groups or active forums to inquire.

There's some additional photos of the floods...

  • Sorry, All. I knocked a drink over my laptop, so have been computerless for a few days! Dried it out on radiator and in a bag of rice, and HEY PRESTO, away it goes again!image Took a while to figure the internet again, but it was just my date settings, Phew, how lucky am I? As usual, I had not backed things up. Get The OH to do that when he comes! So many jobs waiting for him, poor love!

THANK YOU AND WELL DONE ALLimage. The first box of 384 packets is going away on Sat. Was hoping to make it 400, but I still need to sow some before I can share the rest of mine. Andrew should get it Mon or Tues. All of your notes were included to show how you all care.

Mark1963. If yours happen to come before the box goes, I'll sneak them in, otherwise they will be the first for the next box.

Lizzie, well done yourself!image How far from the M6 is the Kendal address? PM me with it.I can certainly ask him. Poor man is really getting dragged into this for me, bless him! He might end up sorry he met me!

OL, might you be going down the M6 to Hull? If so, when, and maybe we can sort something. But we need a collection point after my OH recieves plants, as he has nowwhere to keep them for more than a day or two. Or if OH could collect them on way to mine, then drop of at Kendal on 1st. He is travelling up on 20th April. PM me to let me know.

Love the housework quote, Lizzie. I shut my eyes when I come in on good days. But the garden is important too, seeing as I'm feeding the kids from itimage But how easy it is to put off indoor jobs when the weather is even half-decent. Planning first outdoor sowings tomorrow, weather allowing. Hooray! Lovely warm soil under plastic, fleece waiting. Kids at a friends for the day. Can't waitimage NOOOO housework AT ALL till tea-time! (might just put out the washing)

Artjak, near Blackpool, end of the M55 but travel about quite a bit with work, although for the next week I'm off and on days out with family so won't be much use.
