Can I ask a question please. I'm new to growing my own. I started last spring and learnt a lot in my first season. I started planting seeds this weekend in window propagators but I was just wondering if there's any kind of weather report that can inform me if the frost has passed so I can start planting my seeds out direct. I've googled it but all sorts of stuff come up and obviously weather reports only go a week in advance. Thanks so much. Emma
To early Misselong still frost to get and snow no doubt late April early May is more the time. Better late planting and they will catch up than planting early and losing them.
Misselong, I always assume that the last frost could be as late as May18th. Having said that I always put my Pelagoniums from last year outside at the beginning of April (after hardening them off for about 5 minutes) as by that time I think of them adult enough to look after themselves. Besides I need the room in the green house for newbies.
Yep yee its March. Going to start my sowing my seeds this week ( in the kitchen) my poor husband lol, but I did sow some hot peppers 16 days ago and they are all 1cm high yeah.
Misslong if you put them outside under cloths. I use old curtain nettings they should keep them safe from April. Last year I planted outside in the middle of march before I went away and they grew lovely. This year I'm keeping a dairy so next year so I know for next year.
I have sown a few seeds - Begonia - Marigold - Lobelia - Geraniums - Canterbury bells - Gazania - verbena - buzzy lizzy - snap dragon - delphinium - petunia - aster - minulus and Holly hock. Almost sown some tomatoes today. I got a load more plants to sow this week as well
Now sown sweet peas, begonia, marigold, lobelia, petunia, pansy, snap dragon, everlasting pea, black eyed susan, dahlia tubers. How hardy are snap dragon will they survive in a mini greenhouse in april?
