Thanks OL I have netting to stop birds and cabbage whites on brassicas, the twigs form a boundry until plot is full so my little mates with whiskers don't go digging Doesn't look great but it works for me.
My first earlies should be ready planted 10th March but I'm waiting until sacks dry out before I empty one to investigate, that's one of my fav jobs. Sacks were almost full to top then I stopped topping up.
Ah, I see, I don't have those pests as they aren't brave enough to try and get past the Beagles
My spuds are in big round tubs, I think I'll need one of those fancy spud spade thingymajigs I didn't plant mine until April though, topped up 2 days ago and already popping through this morning. The soil is nearly at the top now though so will stop soon I think
I love looking at these beautiful garden photo's. I'm new to gardening and have been in my present home for just over a year. My Fiance has built a pond and greenhouse and just finished them, and we have gone for an easy to manage cottage garden feel and trying growing some veg, and we back onto the South Downs. As we are new to this I've grown everything in Pots:
KEF what kind of Honeysuckle is that in your last picture, i bought a Honeysuckle two years ago from a well known DIY/GC one of those that were lying on it's side in a half empty pot and no label felt sorry for it, tis more of a bushy shrubby type than the normal honeysuckles any ways it looks very similar to the one in your picture...
Sorry my photographic skills are not up to much...
Must admit the equipment is the OH's mobile phone, that i don't even know how to turn on, the phone that is not the OH, come to think of it both of them ,i asked her to put the camera on then i ran out the house took some pics ran back in and asked her to send me the pics in an email, where in Scotland do you garden Lesley i'm in Lanarkshire...
I usually post pics taken on my iPad in this thread, occasionally I'll get my proper camera out but that means also getting the laptop out to upload them, so usually it's the iPad and the camera is quite good in that anyway. The ones last night were my proper camera, but sometimes I just like messing
It's the subject that matters most....lots of lovely plants and gardens
Hi Mich4 your plants are looking good, I'm impressed with pond and your GH
Percy I don't know what the honeysuckle is, same for yellow clematis that is growing in it, both were cheapies from somewhere about 4 yrs ago. Yours looks lovely but I think it is different to mine, I'm not good at ID ing plants and comparing unless I have one in each hand.
As OL says it's just great to see other people's gardens, plants and projects regardless of how good a photo...
Berghill I haven't looked at your link yet but will do and am looking forward to it

Here we go again, another wander round the old homestead. Tried to take different angles this time, but not easy.

All the photos here are worth seeing. We don't need the best equipment - the subjects count ." And that's all I'm saying" Fan of Bill Bryson
.
There are photos that take your breath away for their beauty and others that tell a story. Love them all
Keep them coming.
Mich4 - all those matching pots look great
. Don't envy you the evening watering round though! Have creatures moved into your pond yet?
Lovely honeysuckle Percy - bet it smells wonderful
