I have been sewing.  Making a full moon patchwork for a quilt for Possum.  I was going to go out and mess with flowers this pm but the fabric moon was more complicated than I expected.  Done now tho so I can get on with planting leafy stuff for winter tomorrow.

    Hi Everyone
Back from Uk just before weather breaks for this w/e -Supposed to be at Garden Fair near St Brieuc but van is ill, so may have to cancel -There is an Apple Fair down the road on Sunday so if van cured will do that instead.
Lovely sunsets this week. Garden happy -will do balance of month Lunar Calender after lunch.

Could not help having a sneaky look at weather prospects for November in Lunar Calender. From 25th of this month temperatures plunging and staying low until 4th November when they are set to rise again Hurray!! Rain however foreseen until 11th of the month or if really cold some snow on higher ground.
Anyway here is the Lunar Calender 25 -31st Oct. Sorry I missed a bit from 17th.
25/26th Oct -Fruit Day from 11.50am 25th until 7.26am 26th -Not much time to harvest balance of ripe fruit -but recommended.
26/27th/28th Oct - Moon ascending in Taurus so Root Days - Undercover sow some more radishes. Just read that as carrots are bi-annual you can leave those left over from Summer and too small to pull fleeced up over the Winter and they will set seed to collect next season. Not sure if this is worth the effort as so cheap to buy in.
29/30th Oct - Moon descending in Gemini so Flower Days. Plant bi-annuals sown 30-31st July. If you have had a frost lift dahlias/cannas & gladioli plus tuberous begonias and put them on greenhouse staging or paletts upside down to dry out ready for storage. Lift and compost annuals.
31st Oct -No gardening before 8.50am or after 3.15pm as noeud ascending and then moon perigee. Leaf Days. Cut and burn asparagus foliage (Why not compost this??) Carry on blanching chicory/celery/endive and dandelion.
    and of course Happy Halloween!
So glad clocks are changing this w/e -fed up with dark mornings.
    Happy Gardening!

Got my leafy veg in on schedule and was planning to do garlic and onion sets this lunchtime but the electricians took a very short lunch so they could finish their bit and leave the way clear for the plumbers to finish so I'm still indoors minding the dogs.  OH should be back from golf around 4 so I can get out then.

My new, upgraded lunar calendar (housework as well as garden jobs) tells me that early November is good for painting so I'll see how I get on with the downstairs loo which is getting a new tap for its basin today.

Hope you get your van fixed OK.

    Hi Obelixx

Hate housework -Maybe Lunar Calender will encourage me! Like the health and well-being bits though (making tisannes etc)
    Happy Painting!

Just in passing tried Walnut Wine at Fair the other week -really good. Anyone else tried it?

There's a chap in the garden club (OH of mosaic lady) who makes his own walnut apéro which I gather is made like Trouspinette but with walnuts instead of buckthorn shoots.  It is delish.  And potent so small doses......

BF - anything to make housework easier is welcome.

Try googling Trouspinette+recipe and just use walnuts instead of the buckthorn shoots.
