Went to a GC today to get some plants for the front door pots and while we were mooching around there was an announcement over the PA system - "today the moon is in descending but also waxing phase and it's good for sowing and planting leaf and stem crops".
And then OH started talking so I missed the rest. Interesting tho that they inform their customers this way.

Tucked up in hotel trying out new smartphone. Got your message. Hope mother goose sees this. French know best!! Met exhibited today at Le Havre who is selling dried prele (marestail) to mix in souls and salads to help rebuild bone cartilage us with arthritis. Gosh I hate typing on phones this has taken 10 minutes!!!
Our allotment association consider maretail a notfiable weed and they buy commercial weed killer to spray on it to keep it down , have to say I treat it as a weed as well Still thinking about a smart phone , o/h got one
Treat it as a weed but use any you pull up to make a stew - as long as it has no chemicals on it. It can then be diluted and used to prevent or treat fungal problems and it's also been used medicinally to treat kidney problems, increase bone density in women with osteoporosis and much more.

No gardening today or tomorrow but should be able to do some on Tuesday so I decided to check the lunar calendar and found a new feature on the quick glance site I use - https://uk.rhythmofnature.net/lunar-calendar-home-and-garden set to UK time. Includes more moon phase info plus info on best times to store and harvest produce and, for anyone who's interested, even the best days for housework tasks.
Hello , doing house works a new one !!! Based on lunar calendar No gardening today as raining all day and not finished yet , garden / allotment could do with it thou Lots to do at allotment before winter comes , they say it could be a bad one , hope it doesn’t start until January as going to a wedding in December , in Windsor , wonder if any royal bunting left ?
Violent storms yesterday bought chestnuts down (nuts not trees!) -Been foraging this am and have enough for Xmas. Luckily the sun shone on us all w/e near Le Havre. Fabulous fair and met lovely English Couple who run The Flower Basket, and have lots of things going on by way of Workshops etc. Had a super range of violas and are pals with Barnhaven Primroses -so lots to talk about. Found out Marestail can be eaten raw in salads and is a brilliant aid for all sorts of things as Obelixx says. Bought BioDynamic Calender for 2019 and some wonderful new herbs to add to Raised beds for Mesclun next year. Off to UK tomorrow to sort out my Mum's things -Very sad, but she would have been really chuffed that I am carrying on with Biodynamics and following in 'family footsteps' -We are taking her up to Scotland in the Spring -She wants to be scattered over The Highlandswhere she was born with a Scottish Blessing. Those web links look really good Obelixx, I shall have a look on the ferry.
Meant to add that there were lots of Asian Hornets at the Garden Fair attacking the Bees in the hives behind us. An Apiculture Association had a stand and gave us the distressing news that as yet nothing could be done about them killing the bees.
It was truly horrible watching them pick off each bee as it left or tried to re-enter the hive.
I'm not soft when it comes to wildlife believing in 'survival of the fittest' but these poor creatures stood no chance and were really stressed out as they could not get out to gather nectar. (They gave the appearance of swarming as bundled together. I thought it may be to protect the Queen but the Association Speaker said it was to protect each other) -Apparently a glass of beer mixed with white wine left near the hive has proved effective, and traps have also been tried, but of course the bees get caught in the latter as well.
Good morning all I have saved Oberlix’s web site to have a proper look at a later date
Asian Hornets , not seen a lot about them , will ask the Beekeeper at allotment next time I seem him Going to do some jobs in garden today , finish potting up spring bulbs etc has it has finally stopped raining Bought Shallots, onions and garlic for allotment yesterday
Asian Hornets -I think I heard a report of them in Cornwall earlier in the year but heard nothing since. Even ordinary wasps can attack & rob a weak hive in certain circumstances.
